Why Recycle Your
Old Cell Phone?
Cell phones present a
significant threat to the environment. More than 100 million cell phones are
expected to be discarded in 2004 and this may result in lead, mercury, cadmium,
arsenic and other toxic substances entering the air and water supply. Earth
Tones is in partnership with Collective Good (www.collectivegood.com) to ensure
that as many phones as possible are re-used and/or disposed of in an
environmentally safe method. In many cases, these phones are used for
disadvantaged persons in the U.S. or developing countries.
How To Recycle Your Old Phone
When you sign up for Earth Tones Wireless service we will include a
mailing label along with your new cell phone, so that you can easily return your old cell phone and know that it will
not end up in a landfill. The cell phone will either be recycled for use or
dismantled and as many components as possible used for other constructive
purposes.
By participating in this program, you are keeping your cell phone out of a
landfill and also helping Earth Tones increase its contributions to the
environment.
If there is a rebate associated with the return of your used cell phone,
follow the instructions on the form and also return this in the prepaid mailer
provided.
